Michael Rubin is an Emmy award winning composer, lyricist, and producer, who creates songs and scores for children’s television. His songs have garnered over one hundred million plays on YouTube.
Mike has created music for shows including Bubble Guppies, Blue’s Clues, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Jack’s Big Music Show, to name a few. His songs have been performed by Ray Charles, Norah Jones, Richard Julian, Patti LaBelle, Macy Gray, Randy Travis, India.Arie, Nell Carter, Toni Braxton, Phoebe Snow, The Persuasions, and many others.
Mike founded the music production company Murmur Music Inc. in 1993, creating music and sound design for commercials for clients such as American Express, AMC, AT&T, Bell South, Citibank, Coca-Cola, Fisher Price, The Food Network, General Motors, Kraft, Maxwell House, Merck, Motorola, Nabisco, Paramount Pictures, Rockport, Samsung, UPS, VH1, Viacom, and Volvo to name a few.
His work on Bubble Guppies has earned him two Emmy nominations (2016 and 2014), an Emmy win (2014), and an Annie Award nomination (2013). Mike also received Emmy nominations for his work on Jack’s Big Music Show (2008) and Blues Clues (2002).
Mike frequently sings and voices characters in the shows that feature his music. He sings lead vocals as an evil crab henchman, along side Wanda Sykes’ Evil Queen, in his song “She’s So Mean” for Bubble Guppies. He also originated and performed the character of Mailbox for 130 episodes of Blue’s Clues, a fact which seems to impress people more than almost anything else!
